Getting to know a destination is about more than visiting its attractions. It is also about experiencing the culture and cuisine that shape the daily lives of its people. At Samsara Living Museum, visitors are invited to experience Bali through its traditions, cuisine, and natural beauty.

Embracing the concept of regenerative tourism, Samsara Living Museum demonstrates how travel can create positive impacts for both the environment and local communities. Set amidst the tranquil countryside of Bali, visitors are introduced to enduring traditions while witnessing the harmonious relationship between the Balinese people and nature.

Balinese Authentic Gastronomy Journey: Exploring the Philosophy of Balinese Cuisine

One of Samsara Living Museum's signature experiences is the Balinese Authentic Gastronomy Journey, a culinary programme inspired by the ancient Dharma Caruban lontar manuscript. This experience introduces visitors to the philosophy behind Balinese cuisine, from the meaning of each ingredient and the importance of hygiene in food preparation to the values of sustainability that have been passed down through generations.

Throughout the journey, visitors discover that food is more than nourishment—it represents cultural wisdom and the spiritual values embedded in Balinese life. Every stage is designed to encourage active participation and a deeper appreciation of the island's culinary heritage.

Visitors begin by exploring the teachings of the Dharma Caruban manuscript before foraging for herbs and local ingredients in the surrounding forest. The ingredients are then prepared according to traditional knowledge and cooked using authentic Balinese techniques in the Sajaha traditional kitchen.

Once the dishes are ready, the experience continues through traditional dining customs. Visitors are introduced to Atiti Bojana, a communal dining tradition where food is shared from a single serving tray, as well as Magibung, Karangasem's traditional communal feast that celebrates togetherness. The journey concludes with a performance of Genjek, a traditional performing art from East Bali that completes the cultural experience.

Through this immersive programme, Samsara Living Museum reveals that Balinese cuisine is not only about distinctive flavours but also about the values and traditions behind every dish. Each culinary experience reflects the close connection between the Balinese people, their culture, nature, and traditions that continue to be preserved across generations.
