In 2017, the building was acquired by the Banjarmasin City Government to be developed into a museum. Due to structural safety concerns, the old building was reconstructed in 2022. Finally, in early 2024, the museum officially opened to the public as Museum Kayuh Baimbai, becoming the first museum in Banjarmasin City.
