Indonesia's culinary heritage is a vibrant reflection of its diverse cultures and traditions. Inspired by a passion for preserving and sharing this rich legacy, Dje Djak Rasa offers a gastronomy walking tour that invites travelers to experience Indonesian cuisine beyond the dining table.

More than simply tasting local dishes, each journey is designed to immerse visitors in the history, culture, and stories behind every bite. Through food, travelers gain a deeper understanding of the people, places, and traditions that have shaped Indonesia's remarkable culinary landscape.

A New Way to Experience Indonesia's Culinary Heritage

Using a storytelling approach, Dje Djak Rasa reveals how every spice blend, cooking technique, and family recipe carries generations of history and reflects the identity of local communities. Rather than focusing solely on the food itself, the tour encourages participants to appreciate the traditions and craftsmanship that keep Indonesia's culinary heritage alive.

One of the highlights of the experience is exploring traditional markets, where everyday life unfolds through vibrant colors, enticing aromas, and lively conversations. Guests will visit some of Java's most iconic markets, including Pasar Legi Kotagede, Pasar Kranggan, Pasar Beringharjo, Pasar Lempuyangan, Pasar Pathuk, Pasar Wates, Pasar Gede Surakarta, and the bustling Magelang Chinatown.

At each destination, visitors can meet local vendors, artisans, and food makers while learning about native ingredients, traditional cooking methods, and the philosophies behind regional dishes.

The journey also includes opportunities to sample authentic local delicacies. One of them is Kipo, a traditional sweet snack from Kotagede. Its name comes from the Javanese phrase "Iki opo?", meaning "What is this?" Small in size yet rich in history, Kipo has delighted generations and remains one of the region's most beloved traditional treats.

Behind Dje Djak Rasa are its three founders, Tanya Intan, Annisa Rizki Astanti, and Almaz Shabrin, who created this experience as a creative platform that connects travel, food, and culture. Their mission is to help travelers discover Indonesia in a more authentic, meaningful, and memorable way.
