Tambora: A Visit to the Legendary Park

Mount Tambora National Park on the island of Sumbawa is a historical marvel due to its eruption in 1815. The eruption decimated the island entirely and sent the world to one of the longest winter. The 2,722 meters volcano is still asleep today, but it is safe for trekking and exploration. The volcano and the area around it have been declared as a national park by the local government. It is open to the public for those interested in exploring its regions. In 2015, local archaeologists found remains of a civilization that was buried by the hot ashes of Tambora in 1815. There is a possibility that those who visit the park may discover a hidden piece of Tambora's history that has been buried for over 200 years.
