Desa Terong has a remarkable story of transformation. Once a former tin mining area, it has evolved into a sustainable tourism destination that prioritizes environmental conservation while creating opportunities for the local community.
One of the village's culinary highlights is the beluko fish, a species found in Belitung's mangrove forests and the main ingredient in the traditional dish gangan ikan beluko. Besides being a nutritious local food source, the beluko fish also plays an important role in the mangrove ecosystem, highlighting the importance of preserving its natural habitat.
Belitung Culinary Adventure also introduces visitors to the bedulang tradition, a communal dining custom where family and friends share a meal from a single large serving tray.
