Masjid Raya At-Taqwa (Berendo)

The At-Taqwa Grand Mosque, often nicknamed "Berendo" (referring to its large, open public square or plaza), is the main mosque of Bengkulu City, officially inaugurated in 1989. The mosque showcases a unique architectural fusion, combining colonial/vintage elements in its facade and spacious, column-lined yard with a blend of a large Turkish-style dome and traditional tiered Indonesian roofing, notably featuring an unsupported interior hall. The expansive "Berendo" plaza surrounding the mosque is a critical feature, serving not only as a spiritual complement but also as a primary social center and city square for Bengkulu residents, hosting various community activities and a popular culinary zone.
