Steeped in history, the Baiturrahman Mosque serves not only as a place of worship but also as a cultural heritage site and a religious symbol of Central Java Province. The driving of 137 foundation pillars marked the beginning of the construction of this iconic mosque in the Simpang Lima area of Semarang. Its construction took six years before it was finally inaugurated by President Soeharto in December 1974. Following a renovation in 2021, the mosque, which has a capacity of 4,500 worshippers, is not only beautiful but also embraces the smart building concept with the entire electrical system operating based on computerization.
