Datu Surgi Mufti is a village originally part of the Sungai Jingah sub-district. During the Dutch colonial era, Sungai Jingah was known not only as Kampung Juragan but also as Kampung Qadi. This nickname persisted throughout the Dutch East Indies era until the colonial occupation ended in 1942 with the arrival of Japanese troops.
