Tambora Mountain

Tambora is home to the largest volcanic crater and the biggest eruption ever recorded on Earth. There aren’t any homestays yet, so it’s super important to hire a local guide. They can help with navigation, share info about the mountain, and assist in emergencies. Tambora has four official trekking routes: Pancasila Route: Located in Dompu Regency, it’s the oldest and most challenging trail with steep and tough terrain. Doro Ncanga Route: Also in Dompu, this route is gentler, allowing 4x4 vehicles to access certain points before starting the hike. Oi Marai Route: Found in Bima Regency, it features stunning waterfall views along the way. Piong Route: Also in Bima, this is the shortest and newest trail, ideal for those with limited time.
