Museum Kambang Putih is a general museum located in Tuban Regency, East Java, Indonesia, officially listed in the National Museum registry under number 35.23.U.04.0058. As part of the Museum Indonesia network, it serves as a cultural institution preserving historical and cultural artefacts from Tuban and Indonesia.
The museum’s name originates from the Kambang Putih Inscription dating back to 1050 CE, which describes the area as an important maritime trade port during the era of the Janggala Kingdom.

It is classified as a Type B general museum, indicating a broad and diverse collection suitable for educational and cultural exploration by the public.
History
Initially inaugurated on 25 August 1984 at the Pendopo Krido Manunggal Complex, the museum was later relocated to a more strategic site on Jalan R.A. Kartini No. 3 near Tuban’s town square and other historic sites such as the Sunan Bonang pilgrimage area. The current building once served as a local government planning office during the colonial era.
Management
The museum is owned by the Tuban Regency Government and managed by the Department of Culture, Youth, Sports, and Tourism of Tuban through the Regional Technical Implementation Unit (UPTD) Museum and Antiquities.
Collections
Museum Kambang Putih houses over 5,700 historical and cultural objects, including archaeological artefacts, ethnographic items, imported ceramics, traditional maritime equipment, fossil specimens, traditional textiles, and rare cultural objects like Ongkek. Many items were donated by locals and reflect Tuban’s vibrant past as a maritime hub.
