This mosque was built on April 5, 1987, during the reign of the 9th Regent of Kotabaru Regency, H.M.R. Husein, from 1985 to 1990. The construction of this mosque began with a proposal to renovate the Baitul Abrar Grand Mosque due to the increasing population of Kotabaru and the increasing openness of road access. On February 7, 1985, the then Regent of Kotabaru, N. Soetejo, initiated a total renovation of the Baitul Abrar Grand Mosque, but it was not implemented until the end of his term. However, the construction plan was continued by the next regent, H. Mr. Husein. On August 26, 1985, a Construction Committee was formed through Regent's Decree Number VI-8-29/Kesra dated September 23, 1985.
