Masjid Agung Batam

The Raja Hamidah Grand Mosque of Batam City (formerly known as the Great Mosque of Batam Centre) is the largest religious icon and central place of worship in Batam, strategically located near the city's government center. The mosque was originally designed by architect Achmad Noe'man and was renowned for its unique architecture, featuring a four-sided pyramid roof (limas) instead of a traditional dome, symbolizing Malay philosophy. Following a major revitalization project completed around 2024, the mosque's appearance became grander and more modern, now featuring a striking main dome, and was officially renamed after Raja Hamidah (Engku Putri), a prominent historical female figure of the Riau-Lingga Sultanate, as a tribute to the region's historical heritage.
