Bayt Al-Qur’an and Istiqlal Museum (BQMI) is a special museum located in Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII), East Jakarta, Indonesia. It is officially registered in the National Museum Registry as part of the Museum Indonesianetwork, with a focus on preserving and exhibiting Qur’anic manuscripts and Indonesian Islamic cultural heritage.

What Is Bayt Al-Qur’an and Istiqlal Museum?

The name Bayt Al-Qur’an literally means “House of the Qur’an”. This museum was established to preserve, care for, and exhibit a wide range of Qur’anic manuscripts and related artefacts from across the Indonesian archipelago. Alongside the Qur’an displays, the Museum Istiqlal section showcases aspects of Indonesian Islamic cultural history.

The museum serves not only as an exhibition space but also as an educational and cultural institution that provides insights into the Qur’an’s role in Indonesian society and the broader cultural history of Islam in the country.
