Fort Duurstede

Fort Duurstede, located on Saparua Island, Central Maluku, is one of the historical buildings from the VOC era. This fort is very important in terms of location for military purposes as it was created as a defensive fort. The fortress was named Duurstede which means "expensive city". Duurstede Fort is a marker of Pattimura's resistance to Dutch colonialism in 1817 and is also the only fort with a colonial design with an oval floor plan.
