The management plays a central role in maintaining the museum’s collections, providing public access, and organizing educational programs related to women’s history.

History of the Museum Monumen Kesatuan Pergerakan Wanita Indonesia

The establishment of the Museum Monumen Kesatuan Pergerakan Wanita Indonesia was inspired by the aspiration to create a monument that would immortalize the unity and collective struggle of Indonesian women. This idea is deeply rooted in the ideals of the First Indonesian Women’s Congress, held from 22 to 25 December 1928 in Yogyakarta.

The construction of the monument was entrusted to Yayasan Hari Ibu, which was founded on 15 December 1953. The groundbreaking ceremony took place on 22 December 1953, coinciding with the celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Indonesian women’s movement.

The building was developed in several stages and was officially inaugurated on 22 December 1983 by President Soeharto as part of the Mandala Bhakti Wanitatama complex. Within this complex, several sections exist, with Balai Srikandi and Balai Utari serving as the main museum exhibition areas.

The museum houses a wide range of collections that reflect the historical journey of the Indonesian women’s movement, including:
