The Gili Islands
( Gili Trawangan, Gili Meno and Gili Air)
Situated on the northwest of Lombok, the Gili Islands have made its name as one of the most sought-after coastal destinations in Indonesia. Although located in the province of Lombok, many of its visitors make their way to the island group through Bali. Its pristine waters are home to a rich and vibrant marine biodiversity, and its rolling waves make for a fantastic spot for surfers. With plenty of options for both relaxed excursions and exciting nightlife, it is exceptionally attractive for all kinds of tourists.
The Gili Islands consists of three small islands, each with unique characteristics of their own. Gili Trawangan is renowned as the urban capital of the islands, with diving schools, bustling streets and buzzing bars bringing the island to life. In contrast, Gili Meno offers tranquility for those looking to go on a romantic getaway --its secluded beaches and seaside seafood dinners ready to charm its visitors. Right in the middle of these islands, Gili Air boasts a perfect combination of the urban amenities as Gili Trawangan and the relaxed feel of Gili Meno.
Lombok is an island of 4,514 square kilometers in the West Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia, with approximately 3.3 million inhabitants. The island has a unique circular shape with a tail-like shape on its southwest part. It shares some resemblance with Bali in their cultural heritage and stunning landscapes. It is also surrounded by small islands, the Gili.

Not to be confused with the beach in Bali, Kuta Beach is located on the south of the island. It boasts 7.2km of clear white sand and dramatic waves. This is where many of the beachside accommodations and amenities are located, although it does not get crowded or polluted.

Pink Beach is located in the further southeast of Lombok. Unlike any beach in the area, this coastline was painted with pink sand due to the microorganisms in its coral breaks. It is advised to rent a driver or take a guided tour, as the road can be quite tricky.

A short distance from the city downtown, Mawun Beach is a sight to behold. Its sprawling coastline contrasts the fine white sand against the turquoise sea, with tourists and beach-goers few and far between.

Consisting of two bays, Tanjung Aan sits on the south of the island. The long, stretching bays are plenty of space for visitors to find a peaceful spot to sit or lie around in its fine white sand. The bays are separated by a hill that provides a stunning view overlooking the sea.

Lombok is an island in West Nusa Tenggara province, Indonesia. The capital and largest city on the island is Mataram.
