DENPASAR, 30 APRIL 2021 - The Indonesian government keeps pushing its efforts to fight COVID-19 as part of the tourism recovery plan, with Bali as the pilot destination, a major element of which is speeding up the COVID-19 vaccination program.
It is reported that the government is targeting vaccination of 3 million people in Bali, around 70 percent of Bali's population (approximately 4.3 million people). The number of vaccines allocated to Bali, distributed to 9 districts/cities, is the highest percentage distribution in Indonesia.
As of 22 April 2021, the number of vaccines received in Bali was 1,141,110 doses or about 19% of the target 6 million doses (2 injections/person). Meanwhile, 696,356 people in Bali had received their Phase I vaccine (23.2 percent), while 216,429 people had received the Phase II vaccine (7.2 percent).
The President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo stated that by 27 April 2021, Indonesia had injected 19 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines. “We must continue to strive so we can reach our target of 70 million people in July," stated Widodo in a Presidential Briefing for Regional Heads throughout Indonesia in 2021, broadcast on the Youtube channel of the Presidential Secretariat on Thursday (29/4).
Based on data from the Ministry of Health, the number of COVID-19 vaccine doses that have been injected is around 19,5 million as of Wednesday (28/4). A total of 12,1 million people have received their first dose injection, 7.4 million of whom have received their second dose.
Meanwhile, today Indonesia has received another bulk shipment of COVID-19 vaccine doses, consisting of 6 million doses of Sinovac and 482,400 doses of Sinopharm vaccines. “Cumulatively, we have received a total of 65,500,000 doses of vaccine in the form of raw materials or bulk from Sinovac," Johnny G Plate said virtually from Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Jakarta, Friday (30/4/2021).
