The Al-Bakrie Grand Mosque in Lampung was built on the initiative of Aburizal Bakrie and the Bakrie Family as a form of ongoing charity (amal jariyah) for the late H. Achmad Bakrie, the founder of Bakrie Group and a native of Lampung. One of his guiding principles was: “Every rupiah generated by Bakrie must benefit the wider community.”
