The ASEAN Para Games 2022 will be held in three regions within Central Java: Surakarta City, Sukoharjo Regency, and Karanganyar Regency. As one of the venues for this prestigious sporting event, the City of Surakarta or commonly known as Solo, is a city that holds a significant history. Often referred to as "the City of Batik," Solo was once the central government of Mataram Kingdom; one of the largest Islamic sultanates in Java, back in the 18th century.

This year's ASEAN Para Games logo adopted many elements of Surakarta cultures, such as keris and gunungan wayang. According to the Chairman of the Organizing Committee for the ASEAN Para Games, Gibran Rakabuming, the logo depicts combined aspects representing the city's fighting spirit. The most important aspect of the logo is the keris or kris, a traditional weapon which symbolizes the will of the paralympic athletes participating in the ASEAN Para Games 2022. Meanwhile, the gunungan behind the keris, symbolizes the opening of a new chapter after the pandemic.


3. 14 highly exciting sports are contested


The ASEAN Para Games 2022 will be highly exciting as the event features a wide array of sports. These sports include athletics, swimming, badminton, weight lifting, table tennis, chess, CP football, blind judo, boccia, sitting volleyball, goalball, wheelchair tennis, archery, and wheelchair basketball.
