History of Museum

The museum’s construction began around 2014–2015 after Indonesia’s batik gained UNESCO recognition. Its architectural design — inspired by batik motifs — and multi-stage construction was completed around 2018–2023. Museum Batik Indonesia was strategically built near other cultural museums in TMII to provide a comprehensive cultural experience.
