Badut Temple

Badut Temple is a historic Hindu temple situated in Malang, East Java, Indonesia. The temple has a unique stupa structure, an architectural style rarely found elsewhere in Indonesia. Badut Temple is one of the temple ruins whose discovery was reported by E.W. van Maureenbrecher, a Controleur van Malang, on October 24, 1923. 

The ruins are located in Badud, Karang Besuki Village, Penanggungan District, Malang Regency, East Java (OV 1923: 85-90). The temple also exhibits a blend of Hindu and Buddhist architectural styles, which reflects the cultural harmony of that era. Badut Temple is considered an early marker of civilization in East Java. A number of inscriptions have been found around Badut Temple, providing valuable information on the social, religious, and political life of the people in the past. These inscriptions make Badut Temple a significant historical site that merits study and understanding.
