What Is the Police Academy Museum?

The Police Academy Museum is a museum dedicated to presenting the history and development of police education and traditions in Indonesia. As a specialized museum, it focuses on artifacts, exhibitions, and documentation related to the life of cadets and the evolution of police training.

This museum is classified as a specialized museum — meaning it has a specific thematic focus on police history and police academy training rather than displaying general historical or cultural collections. 

 

Management

The museum is owned and managed by the Police Academy Semarang (Akpol), which is the main police training institution under the Indonesian National Police. The museum’s operations are supported by internal educational staff and contributions from related bodies like the Pusjarah Polri (Police History Center). 

 

History

The Police Academy Museum was inaugurated on February 24, 2023, by the Chief of the Indonesian National Police, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, M.Si, and formally transferred to the Police Academy leadership on March 9, 2023

Collections consist of historical objects donated by the Pusjarah Polri, illustrating police education and traditions from colonial times through modern day.

Although the official catalog is still being developed, the museum features a variety of historical exhibits including:

  • Dioramas depicting law enforcement history from colonial era to modern Indonesia. 
  • Police uniforms and equipment through different historical periods. 
  • Weapons and tools used in early policing. 
  • Exhibits illustrating cadet life and police academy traditions. 

 

Vision

The museum’s vision is to preserve historical values and the life of cadets in police education as an informative resource for both national and international audiences

 

Mission

Key missions include: 

  1. Presenting key historical events related to the Police Academy’s development.
  2. Offering community education on police traditions and training.
  3. Serving as an educational tourism destination focused on police history.

 

Role in Museum Indonesia Network

As part of the Museum Indonesia registration, the Police Academy Museum contributes to the systematic preservation and documentation of Indonesia’s institutional heritage. It plays a significant role in educating the public about the roots and traditions of the Indonesian National Police.
