The Jami' Keraton Sambas Mosque was originally the sultan’s residence, which was later converted into a mosque. It was built by Sultan Umar Aqomuddin, who ruled the Sambas Kingdom from 1702 to 1727 AD. Later, the small mosque was renovated by his son, Sultan Muhammad Saifuddin, and expanded into a grand mosque, which was officially inaugurated on October 10, 1885 AD.
