The Lampung Transmigration Museum (Museum Ketransmigrasian Lampung) is a special museum located in Gedong Tataan, Pesawaran, Lampung, Indonesia. It is officially registered with the Museum Registration system (NPNM 18.09.K.03.0224), making it part of the Indonesian Museum network and a unique institution dedicated to preserving the history of the transmigration program in Indonesia. 

This museum documents the social and historical narrative of transmigration — a national program initiated to redistribute population for economic and social development.

According to the Ministry of Culture: 

  • Museum Category: Special Museum – dedicated to a specific historical theme (transmigration).
  • Museum Type: Type B Museum – with significant educational value and well-organized collections.

These classifications highlight the museum’s role in education and historical preservation. 

Management & Ownership

The museum is owned by the Government of Lampung Province and managed by the Department of Education and Culture of Lampung Province. The management oversees preservation, exhibitions, and educational programming aimed at increasing public historical awareness. 

History of the Museum

Established in 2004, the museum’s construction began with a ceremony led by the Governor of Lampung on December 12, 2004. It was created to serve as a repository and learning center for the complex history of Indonesia’s transmigration policy. 

Over time, the museum expanded its collections and facilities, positioning itself as an important site for cultural education and historical study.
