The 9th Bali And Beyond Travel Fair (BBTF) 2023

The Bali & Beyond Travel Fair (BBTF) is Indonesia’s largest B2B tourism exhibition, organized by ASITA Bali. Held from June 14 to 17, 2023, at the Bali International Convention Centre (BICC) in Nusa Dua, Bali, the 9th edition of BBTF adopted the theme “Reconnecting to Quality and Sustainable Tourism.” This premier international travel exhibition focuses on promoting Indonesian tourism products to the global market. BBTF 2023 hosted 230 sellers from five countries and 350 buyers from 51 countries, facilitated through Pre-Scheduled Appointments (PSA).  

The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy actively participated by facilitating a Bali Pavilion spanning 81 square meters, featuring 12 sellers selected by Bali’s Provincial Tourism Office. These sellers represented hotel/resort accommodations, tourism associations, travel agencies (TA/TO), tourist attractions, and activity operators. The exhibitors included:  Blue Swan Bali Tours, PT. Merrys Tour & Travel Service, Dwidaya Wisata Indonesia, PT. Tour East Indonesia, Floressa Bali Tours, Respati Beach Hotel, Toya Devasya Geopark Resort & Villas, Tanah Gajah, a Resort by Hadiprana, AIRA Bali (Heritage, History, Culture, Art & Destination), AIRA Bali (Adventure Nature & Conservation Base), PT. Aneecha Sailing Catamaran, PT. Sari Profit  

Over three days of exhibition, the Bali Pavilion achieved a transaction potential of IDR 30,290,673,000 (approximately USD 2,019,378), involving 9,574 prospective tourists for travel periods between August 2023 and December 2024. Meanwhile, the total transaction potential for BBTF 2023 reached IDR 8.5 trillion, surpassing the initial target of IDR 6.7 trillion. These figures were derived from contracts and projected annual outputs from tour operators attending the event.  

The four-day event featured a variety of programs:  Day 1 & 2: Online Travex sessions, Day 2: BBTF Talkshow, Opening Ceremony, and sellers meet buyers, Day 3: Registration of trade buyers/invitees, Opening of Travex Offline, Site Inspection by the Governor of Bali and VIP guests, and a Press Conference, Day 4: Offline Travex, Site Inspection by the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Closing Press Conference, and Cocktail Party  

BBTF 2023 not only reinforced Indonesia’s position as a top-tier international MICE destination but also demonstrated the growing global interest in quality and sustainable tourism within the country.
