Famtrip to Reassure Chinese Tourists That Bali is Safe

 

Jakarta, 23 October 2017 ---Deputy Assistant of Tourism Marketing for Asia Pacific Region organized a familiarization trip (famtrip) for 9 Chinese media partners to Bali from 22 to 26 of October 2017. They are the China News Servise (CNS), NetEase (163), Xinhua News Agency, Xinmin Network, Yangtse Evening Post, JiangSu TV, The Paper News, Oriental Guardian, Shanghai Morning Post. Famtrip participants will be taken to enjoy the tourism village of Ubud; art performance in Uluwatu; signature culinary in Jimbaran and Seminyak; marine breeze in Tanjung Benoa, Nusa Dua, and Kuta. Deputy Assistant Vinsensius Jemadu stated that the famtrip is one of the efforts taken to boost tourists visit to Indonesia, this time particularly from China, which is targeted to reach 2 million.

Vinsensius added that the news spreading in China about Mount Agung volcanic activity needs to be clarified. Disaster-prone areas are in 12 km radius from Mount Agung, whereas the tourist areas is Bali are located 70 km away from the mountain. “Through this famtrip, we want to prove that Bali is indeed safe for tourist visit. Chinese tourists do not need to hesitate for coming to Bali," said Vinsensius in Bali, Monday (10/23).

This is in line with what Bali Governor Made Mangku Pastika stated earlier in a press conference following the coordination meeting between Ministry of Tourism and Bali regional government. The government has prepared anticipation scenario in case of eruption, such as emptying the 'red zone' within 12 km radius from the volcano and established Bali Tourism Task Force (the crisis center) to support tourists during the eruption.

Famtrip participants are expected to disseminate their coverage to let Chinese public know the current situation in Bali. "Online media is very influencial for Chinese people. Most young generations use online media as the source of Bali tourism information," said Vinsensius.

The number of Chinese tourist visit in August 2017 is recorded 1.428 million or increased 45.78% compared to last year number which only reached 980 thousand. Chinese most favorite destinations in Indonesia are Bali, Jakarta, Tanjung Uban in Riau Islands, Batam, and Manado. Chinese tourists enjoy visiting beaches, strolling around, shopping, and savouring the traditional culinary while visiting Indonesia. (Bureau of Legal Affairs and Public Communication)
