Pukul Sapu Lidi Negeri Mamala

The Pukul Sapu tradition in Mamala, Central Maluku, is an extreme annual cultural attraction involving young men striking each other's backs with brooms made from the ribs of the napara (sugar palm) tree. Held every 7th of Shawwal (seven days after Eid al-Fitr), this tradition symbolizes the struggle of Captain Telukabesi and his subsequent healing using Mamala oil, serving as a powerful ritual to strengthen familial and communal bonds.
