Masjid Baiturrahim

The Baiturrahim Mosque, located in Ulee Lheu, is another historic mosque with deep significance to the Acehnese people. Originally known as the Jami Ulee Lheu Mosque, it was renamed Baiturrahim after the Baiturrahman Grand Mosque was burned by the Dutch in 1873, when it temporarily served as the central place for Friday prayers. Like the Baiturrahman Grand Mosque, the Baiturrahim Mosque also miraculously survived the 2004 tsunami, sustaining only about 20% damage, further cementing its status as a symbol of God's greatness and the strength of faith.
