History of UPTD Museum Tsunami

The museum was constructed in 2007 on a 10,000-square-meter site, involving multiple stakeholders. The BRR NAD–Nias funded the building construction, while the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) supported planning, interior assets, and collection procurement.

UPTD Museum Tsunami was officially inaugurated by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono in 2009 and opened to the public in 2011.

Location and Visiting Hours

UPTD Museum Tsunami is located in Banda Aceh City, Aceh Province. Visiting hours are:

  • Monday–Thursday, Saturday, Sunday, and Public Holidays: 09:00 – 16:00

  • Friday: Closed

  • Entrance fee: IDR 3,000
