Keraton Sumenep was constructed in 1762 during the reign of Panembahan Sumolo I (Tumenggung Arya Nata Kusuma). Designed by a Chinese architect, Louw Phia Ngo, the palace uniquely blends Islamic, European, Chinese, and Javanese architectural elements.
The museum was later established within the palace complex to safeguard royal relics and historical records, maintaining the authenticity of the original structures and their historical significance.
