Indonesia in Sixth Position for COVID-19 Vaccination Rate Worldwide

JAKARTA, 13 SEPTEMBER 2021 - Based on the data provided by Oxford Martin School, Indonesia is listed in sixth position for COVID-19 vaccination rate worldwide. This position overtakes Germany, Turkey, and the United Kingdom which are in seventh, eighth, and ninth positions respectively.

"It is true that Indonesia ranks sixth globally, but we must remain steady and put our best effort to accelerate the vaccination rate," stated Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto during a press conference on Monday (6/9).

The minister added that as of Sunday (5/9) approximately 105.7 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine doses had been administered to healthcare workers, teenagers, general public, and elderly with the details of 66.78 million first doses of vaccine and 38.22 million second doses of vaccine.

Furthermore, Airlangga noted that the vaccination program was one of the government's strategies in combating the COVID-19 pandemic. It would be successful if accompanied by strengthening policies through community activities restriction and practicing health habits including the 3M (wearing mask, washing hands, maintaining physical distance) and 3T (tracing, tracking, treatment) steps.
