Kidal Temple

Kidal Temple is one of the temples remaining from the Singhasari Kingdom in the 8th century AD, located in Reco Kidal village, Tumpang, Malang, East Java. Kidal Temple features architecture similar to the Hindu temples originating in North India. This temple has beautifully detailed and complex reliefs that depict scenes from Hindu epics such as the Ramayana and the Mahabharata. Kidal Temple can be categorized as one of the East Java Berlanggam temples. The main distinguishing feature of Kidal Temple is that lion statue molds can be found on all four base corners of the temple. Kidal Temple is an interesting example of the harmony between Hindu’s art and culture in the architecture of East Java.
