Sandeq Silumba
Sandeq Silumba is Indonesia’s longest traditional sailboat event, covering 231 km across Polewali Mandar, Majene, and Mamuju in West Sulawesi. Each boat carries 14 crew members, known as Pa’sawi, showcasing skill and speed along scenic beaches such as Bahari, Pamboang, Sendana, Deking, and Manakarra. The festival also features Sandeq Night Market with traditional dance, music, and local SMEs. More than a race, the event preserves the cultural heritage of the Sandeq, Mandar’s fast traditional sailboat, offering visitors a unique blend of cultural tourism, entertainment, and traditional maritime experience.
