Rimpu Mantika Festival

Rimpu is a manifestation of the traditional hijab worn by women from Bima in the past, which began to be commonly used and became a culture passed down since the reign of Sultan Bima II in 1640 AD. Rimpu is typically worn when leaving the house or attending other sacred events. It also represents the status of Bima women, as it is worn without any accessories such as pins or brooches.

Until today, the practice of wearing rimpu is still highly regarded and remains a cultural heritage. Therefore, the Rimpu Mantika Festival is a source of pride for the people of Bima City and is always eagerly awaited.

In 2024, this event will feature the Rimpu Mantika Dance for the first time. In addition, there will be traditional performances such as rawa mbojo, biola gambo, a creative economy bazaar, a fashion show, and the highlight of the event will be a Rimpu Mantika parade, featuring a series of Rimpu Mantika dances by 500 dancers.
