Pasola Sumba Barat

About the Event
Pasola is a traditional war ceremony where two groups of horsemen armed with wooden spears face each other and attack one another. In West Sumba, this tradition is held around March, during the Bulan Nyale or Wulan Nyale (Nyale Month). The Nyale Month is considered sacred due to a series of traditional rituals performed during this time. The Pasola in West Sumba will be held on March 1, 2024, at the Bara Bedang Field, Wanukaka District. The series of events for the Pasola in West Sumba includes the opening with the Traditional Boxing Match (Pajura Tinju Tradisional), Horse Training for Pasola, Hadu Nyale, and the Main Pasola event.
