Christine added that the festival will certainly draw the attention of fashionistas, culinary enthusiasts, as well as all visitors. “Our fashion, including Indonesian Moslem fashion and wedding dresses are very popular with clients from neighboring countries, and they very much like the creations by Indonesian designers.
Aside from elevating the brand of Indonesia, the festival is also expected to bring more international tourists to cross the border to visit Indonesia through Batam” added Christine. For the culinary part, all of the island’s and Riau’s mouth-watering culinary dishes will be featured during the event.
Fully supported by the Ministry of Tourism, the festival is also aimed to attract tourists. “This is part of our continuing efforts to maintain Batam as one of the important gateways to the country. Boosted by the event, I am confident that international tourists especially those from Singapore and Malaysia will keep coming to enjoy the beauty of our country” commented Christine.

Just a short ferry ride away from Singapore, the city-island of Batam offers a completely contrasting ambiance from that of busy metropolitan Singapore. The island promises a leisurely weekend getaway offering reasonably priced freshly caught seafood, fine golfing, plenty of duty-free shopping or an escape to a remote island ideal for trekking, diving, snorkeling and relaxing fishing.
There are frequent daily ferries connecting Singapore’s Tanah Merah port with Batam as well as between Johor Bahru, Malaysia, and Batam. Batam’s Hang Nadim’s international airport, located in the eastern part of the island, receives mainly domestic flights direct from Jakarta, Surabaya, Medan, Pekanbaru, Jambi, Palembang and Bandung.
