Driving across the island of Java is indeed an adventurous thing to do, especially if it's a Trans Java Road Trip with your family. However, there are some things you need to take note of for a better, maximum experience of a road trip. Well here are some useful travel tips for your journey!

Travel Tips

1| Check Your Vehicle

First and foremost when you’re planning on a road trip is your vehicle. Make sure the fluid levels (oil, water, etc), brakes, tires, and are in excellent shape. Check the wiper blades, belt, and hose connections; tire pressure, turn signals, horn, and headlights. Have your spare tire fully inflated and make sure you have jumper cables, and all the tools and gears needed in case of emergencies ready in your car. Also, don’t forget to calculate the gas mileage needed for the road trip, so you can mark where to refill gas along the way.  You can directly call the service provider or car rental to assist you if trouble comes in the middle of your journey.

2| Check Your E-Card

Make sure your E-Card for toll fare is filled. For a Trans Java trip, at least have it fill up to around IDR 500.000 – IDR 1.000.000 for a round trip. Have an extra card ready for back up, in case the toll machine has trouble reading the first card, which is an uncommon problem that occurred often.

3| Check Your Mobile Charger

  • Daily meds and first aid kit

  • Water bottles, have at least one for each family member or bring extras, it’s a long trip you wouldn’t want to get dehydrated.

  • Snacks (crackers, chips, biscuits, bread)

  • Meals, if you are not planning to take a pit stop to eat on a restaurant along the way, then better bring a complete heavy meal and store in a lunch box/container. Don’t forget to bring cutleries!

  • Camera. Surely you will not want to miss all the good things you are going to see on your way and when you arrived at the destinations. Capture the moments, keep it as your precious memories, and share it with the people you love!
