Siku-Siku

Siku-siku is a traditional Betawi weapon with a distinctive L-shaped form. It is used in Betawi martial arts—such as silat—for both defense and offense. Its unique design allows the user to disable an opponent with quick, effective movements. Beyond its function in self-defense, the siku-siku is also an important part of Betawi cultural heritage. Today, it is still used in silat training and martial arts performances.

As part of Betawi culture, the siku-siku is known not only in the martial arts world but also for its strong historical significance. In the past, it was used by Betawi jawara (local champions or warriors) to protect themselves and their communities. Today, the weapon continues to be taught in silat communities as a means of cultural preservation. Its unique shape and techniques make it appealing to martial arts practitioners. Through ongoing preservation efforts, the siku-siku remains a symbol of Betawi courage.
