SNAP THE WONDERS

The organization of a tourism video contest in commemoration of World Tourism Day 2025. This activity will be carried out independently by the Deputy for Marketing Affairs c.q. the Assistant Deputy for Marketing Strategy and Communication

CATEGORIES OF VIDEOS ELIGIBLE FOR SUBMISSION

  • Tourist (Destination)

    Showcasing the natural beauty, culture, and tourist attractions of a destination, with a focus on tourism potential that can attract visitors

  • Tourist (Attraction)

    Showcasing specific tourist attractions, such as amusement parks, museums, historical sites, or cultural festivals

  • Accommodation

    Promoting hotels, resorts, villas, or other types of accommodation as comfortable and appealing places for tourists to stay

  • Culinary

    Highlighting the culinary richness of a destination, including traditional foods, unique restaurants, or other gastronomic experiences

  • Culture

    Showcasing the uniqueness of a destination’s culture, traditions, arts, and heritage

  • Ecotourism

    Showcasing specific tourist attractions, such as amusement parks, museums, historical sites, or cultural festivals

  • Adventure

    Showcasing adventure and extreme sports activities available at a destination, such as hiking, diving, or rafting

  • Creative Tourism

    Showcasing unique experiences available during travel, such as participating in local craft workshops

VIDEO FORMAT AND CATEGORIES ELIGIBLE FOR SUBMISSION

  • Short Video

    Short videos (typically under 3 minutes) that convey messages concisely and effectively

  • Documentary Video

    Videos that present facts and information about a destination or topic in depth

  • Promotional Video

    Videos aimed at promoting a destination or tourism product.

  • Narrative Video

    Videos that tell a story or personal experience related to tourism

CATEGORIES OF PARTICIPANTS

  • Participants must be Indonesian or international citizen with an active social media account.
  • Participants are required to present a valid form of identification (KTP, passport, or other official ID).
  • Instagram accounts must be publicly accessible (not private).

Additional Assesment Criteria

1. Inovation and Originalty

  • How original and innovative the video is, and to what extent it introduces new or unique ideas.

2. Visual Quality

  • The quality of the imagery, cinematography, and editing.

3. Audio Quality

  • The quality of the sound, music, and narration.

4. Narrative Video

  • A video that tells a story or shares a personal experience related to tourism.

5. Message

  • How clear and effective the conveyed message is.

6. Appeal

  • How engaging and attractive the video is to the target audience.

7. Relevance

  • How well the video aligns with the competition’s theme and category.

TIMELINE OF ACTIVITIES

 

 

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

  1. Participants must be Indonesian or international citizens and are required to follow the official Instagram account @wonderfulindonesia.
  2. The submitted video must not be created using Artificial Intelligence (AI).
  3. Only basic digital editing is allowed: adjustments to brightness, contrast, saturation, and cropping.
  4. The EXIF data must remain intact in the video file.
  5. The video must be taken between January 1, 2024, and November 10, 2025.
  6. The submitted video must be the participant’s original work and must not violate any Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) or social norms. It must also be free from elements related to SARA (ethnicity, religion, race, and inter-group issues), politics, pornography, or any content that could offend others.
  7. The copyright of the winning and nominated videos remains with the videographer; however, the Ministry of Tourism of the Republic of Indonesia has the right to use the videos for promoting Indonesian tourism.
  8. The video must not have been published in any mass media, advertisements, or promotional materials, and must not have won any previous video contests or competitions.
  9. Participants must complete the registration form and upload a high-resolution video through the provided submission link.
  10. The video must also be posted on the participant’s public Instagram account, mention the official account @wonderfulindonesia, and include the hashtags #snapthewonders and #wonderfulindonesia.
  11. The Ministry of Tourism of the Republic of Indonesia reserves the right to disqualify any video submission before or after the judging process if it does not follow the rules.
  12. The judges’s decision is final and cannot be challenged.
  13. By joining the competition, all participants are considered to have agreed to all the terms and conditions listed above.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

The submitted video should inspire viewers to experience the beauty of Indonesia in its entirety, capturing the spirit, stories, and meaningful connections formed through quality journeys between travelers, nature, and culture.

Scores are given on a 1 to 5 scale:

  1. Very irrelevant
  2. Irrelevant
  3. Neutral
  4. Relevant
  5. Very relevant

Winner Selection Stages

  • The Ministry of Tourism of the Republic of Indonesia (Kemenpar RI) will curate participants’ videos, which will then be submitted to the panel of judges for evaluation to determine the nominees and winners.
  • Based on the first stage, the Ministry of Tourism and the judges will select three winners.
  • The winners will be announced on the official Instagram account @wonderfulindonesia.

1. Aspect Ratio:
Vertical (9:16), Square (1:1), Landscape (16:9)

2. Resolution:
Full HD (1920x1080) or 4K (3840x2160)

3. File Format:
MP4 or MOV

4. Duration:
Minimum 30 seconds, maximum 3 minutes

5. File Size:
Maximum 100 MB

6. Codec:
H.264 for video, AAC for audio

7. Use of Text (Captions):
Add text or captions to the video, especially for dialogue or narration. Many users watch videos on mute.

8. Attractive Thumbnail:
Create a visually appealing and relevant thumbnail. The thumbnail is the first thing viewers notice.
