“Shrek The Musical” to Enchant Jakarta Audiences May 2016
If you are a fan of the big green friendly ogre and his goofy friends, prepare yourself! Shrek, Princess Fiona, Donkey, Puss and all those unique fairy tale characters will come alive in person in the spectacular show “Shrek The Musical”. To be staged in the capital city Jakarta in May 2016 the show will enchant fans with 24 shows from 5th to 22nd May 2016 at the Ciputra Artpreneur Theatre.
The Theatre had earlier in the year hosted Beauty and the Beast and the Sound of Music to packed audiences.
Jakarta will be the first city in a series of performances to be staged in other parts of the world in the international tour of Shrek The Musical. The show in Jakarta is presented by Ciputra Artpreneur in collaboration with DreamWorks Theatrical, Broadway Entertainment Group FZ LLC, and NETworks Presentations.
“Shrek The Musical” is an adaptation of the animation movie produced by DreamWorks Animation Film that successfully won a number of Oscars.
Shrek tells the story of an ugly yet friendly green ogre and his uncommon adventures in the fairy tale realm. Here the classic plot of fairy tales was given a new twist when instead of a handsome Prince Charming, an ugly ogre came to rescue the beautiful princess. Other funny characters also highlight the story including a loud mouthed talking donkey, a silly gingerbread man, a manipulative cat, and more.
In their official press release, DreamWorks Theatricals stated: “We are happy that Shrek The Musical can go to places never been gone before. Families around the world can finally see their favorite characters live on stage”.
Shrek The Musical was written by Pulitzer Prize winner David Lindsay-Abaire, while the music was the work of Olivier Award winner Jeanine Tesori. The show also involves Choreographer Chris Bailey, Tony Award winner Costume Designer Tim Hatley, and directed by Stephen Sposito who also directed the Broadway Musical “How to Succeed in Business” which featured Harry Potter’s actor Daniel Radcliff.
