The Baliem Valley Cultural Festival

The 32nd Baliem Valley Cultural Festival in 2024 is a cultural attraction aimed at promoting Wamena as a tourist destination and a city branding icon for both domestic and international visitors.

This festival will showcase the heritage of the Hubula tribe’s ancestors through grand war reenactments, youth sports games (such as sikoko and puradan) that test the skill of spear throwing, pig racing, the traditional Bakar Batu cooking ceremony, as well as performances of traditional dance and music, such as Pikon.

At the festival’s peak, a cultural carnival will be presented as an expression of love for the nation and in celebration of Indonesia's 79th Independence Day.
