Seba Baduy

Seba Baduy is a deeply rooted cultural ritual where thousands of Baduy Dalam (Inner Baduy) and Baduy Luar (Outer Baduy) communities journey to the cities of Rangkasbitung, Pandeglang, and Serang. The Inner Baduy, dressed in all-white traditional attire, make this pilgrimage entirely on foot, while the Outer Baduy travel by vehicle, reflecting their distinct lifestyles.
Before the Seba Baduy procession, the community completes two key rituals: Kawalu and Ngalaksa. Kawalu, held during the three-month harvest season, marks a time when the Baduy cultural zone is closed to outsiders. This is followed by Ngalaksa, a joyous thanksgiving ritual where neighbors and relatives share food and strengthen bonds of kinship.
During Seba Baduy, offerings of agricultural produce are presented to regional leaders such as the Regent of Lebak and the Governor of Banten. The event also fosters cultural dialogue, celebrating the harmony and mutual respect between the Baduy people and the broader community.
