Lom Plai Traditional and Cultural Festival

LomPlai is an annual eventl held after the rice harvest, with the peak event known as Embob Jengea or the harvest festival. The ceremony involves the active participation of all local residents, from children to the elderly. Even children are included in this sacred event. The opening of LomPlai is marked by the Ngesea Egung, a gong ceremony performed by the royal descendants. The gong is struck at dawn or when all living beings awaken, and it takes place in a traditional house, or lamin. The sound of the gong signals the start of the community's collaboration to decorate the village and begin the sacred rituals.
The LomPlai ceremony directly reflects how the Wehea people continue to preserve and uphold their traditional identity, ensuring the continuity of their rituals and customs.
