Gili Festival

Gili Festival is an annual event featuring a variety of outdoor activities, art performances, exhibitions, and the highlight of the event, the Mandi Safar/Rebo Bontong ritual. This ritual takes place on the last Wednesday of Safar, a tradition passed down by the people of Gili Island, North Lombok. The festival begins with the release of agricultural products into the sea and ends with participants plunging into the ocean for a cleansing ritual on the beach. The fun and excitement of everyone being drenched, regardless of social status, gender, or position, is what makes the Mandi Safar unique. Everyone must get wet!
