Do you enjoy hunting for vintage items? If so, you should visit Surabaya Street in the Menteng area, Central Jakarta. Here, you'll find a wide array of vendors selling antique items like vinyl records, engraved ceramics, old kitchenware, jade accessories, and crystal lamps.

You'll also spot well-organized collections of antique coins, paintings, statues, tube TVs, radios, typewriters, telephones, and hourglasses. Besides antiques, you can also find various backpacks and suitcases for sale. And the best part is, prices here are relatively affordable—especially if you're good at haggling, you can grab a great deal.

Getting to Surabaya Street is quite easy. You can take the KRL Commuterline and get off at Cikini Station. From there, it's just a short 5-minute walk (about 350 meters) to the street. Sounds like a fun stop if you're looking to explore something unique while you're in Jakarta!

2. Spending the Weekend at Pasar Santa: Enjoying Coffee, Tasting Various Cuisines, and Shopping for Unique Items

If your weekend feels boring, maybe it's time to visit a cool hangout spot. One of them is Pasar Santa. Unlike most markets that typically only sell basic necessities, Pasar Santa offers much more. Here, you can enjoy coffee, taste a variety of delicious foods, and shop for unique items.

This modern market building consists of three floors and is located at Jalan Cipaku I No 1, Petogogan, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta, DKI Jakarta.

In the basement, you’ll find stalls selling vegetables, meat, chicken, fish, and other groceries. Moving up to the ground floor, there are shops selling household goods, clothes, gold, stationery, birthday supplies, mobile phones, and even tailors. On the first floor (or upper level), you'll discover a row of stalls selling various cuisines, unique thrifted items, toys, old-school cassettes, and vinyl records.

3. Hunting for Analog Cameras and Branded Thrift Items at Pasar Baru

For those who are into analog photography and looking for cameras, lenses, or rolls of film, Pasar Baru is the perfect spot! You can easily find all of these items at the various shops in the Metro Atom and Harco Pasar Baru areas. The prices are relatively affordable and won’t break the bank, especially if you're good at bargaining with the vendors.

Aside from hunting for analog cameras, on the 4th floor of Metro Atom Plaza in Pasar Baru, you can also enjoy thrift shopping for branded fashion items such as t-shirts, shirts, jackets, hoodies, pants, and more, all at lower prices.

Here’s a tip for those planning to shop for thrift items at Pasar Baru: Always check the condition of the items to make sure they're still usable. Don't get tempted by cheap prices without carefully inspecting the quality of the items you want to buy.
