Festival Roon Wondama

Festival Roon Wondama is an annual event organized by the Teluk Wondama Regency Government in West Papua. With the theme “Local Wisdom is My Life,” it celebrates the cultural traditions and local wisdom of the people of Roon Island, combined with marine tourism potential. The festival features cultural performances like Bemamun Soren (traditional sea battle), traditional dances, music, sago tree climbing, black fruit sago processing, communal papeda eating, and fishing with traditional tools. Visitors can also enjoy snorkeling and diving to explore the underwater beauty of Teluk Wondama. Additionally, the festival showcases local UMKM with traditional food and crafts from West Papua. The event aims to preserve local culture and promote the revival of tourism and the creative economy in the region.
