Enjoy an evening of entertaining jazzy tunes at The Goodies Poolside Restaurant on April 30th 2017. Where well-known jazz figures will showcase their remarkable talents on International Jazz Day 2017. The restaurant is located on Smiling Hills area on Batam, the Riau Archipelago Province.
The event will feature the gorgeous Sheila Majid, Soukma, Geliga, the Asian Rhythm Project, Lightcraft, Ikkubaru and more exciting Indonesian national and local jazz bands. The string of shows are scheduled to start at 5 - 11 PM local time.
The Batam Jazz Society has successfully organized such events since 2014. "Aside from local audiences and expatriates living in Batam, we also aim to attract visitors from Singapore and Malaysia", said Gardiana as Head of the Batam Jazz Society. The island was chosen as one of the official partners of UNESCO and the Thelonius Monk Institute of Jazz to celebrate this event annually. Aside from live music performances, there will also be talk shows and other jazzy agendas. The International Jazz Day was designated by UNESCO in November 2011. Since then the organization has collaborated with many cities around the world to host the celebration of jazz on every 30th April, as the universal language.
It was also founded in the spirit to bring communities, schools, artists, historians, academics, and jazz enthusiasts from all over the world to learn more about jazz while together enjoying its soothing rhythm."An annual International event such as this one can lure more tourists to visit a destination repeatedly and, therefore, become eager to be part of more festivity each year", hoped Arief Yahya ,Indonesian Minister of Tourism.
