What Is Museum Siginjei?

Museum Siginjei is a cultural institution located in Jambi City, Jambi Province, Indonesia, officially recorded in the National Museum registration with number 15.71.U.03.0014 and as part of the Museum Indonesia network supporting preservation of Indonesian heritage. 

It preserves and displays objects related to the long history and cultural traditions of Jambi, making it an important site for education and cultural tourism. 

Type & Classification

The museum is classified as a General Museum (Museum Umum) with Type A status — indicating extensive collections and comprehensive facilities for exhibition, research, and public education. 

History of the Museum

Originally named Museum Negeri Provinsi Jambi, Museum Siginjei’s cornerstone was laid by the Governor of Jambi on 18 February 1981 and officially opened on 6 June 1988 by Indonesia’s Minister of Education and Culture. Following regional autonomy changes, the institution’s name evolved to Museum Siginjei on 30 October 2012

Management

Museum Siginjei is owned by the Government of Jambi Province and managed by the Department of Culture and Tourism of Jambi Province, responsible for conservation, exhibitions, research, and educational programs.
