Sewu Temple

Sewu Temple is a Buddhist temple located in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Built in the 8th century AD by the Ancient Mataram Kingdom, Sewu Temple is one of the largest Buddhist architectural legacies in Indonesia. The name "Sewu" means "thousand" in Javanese, referring to the number of small temples around the main temple. This temple compound has magnificent architecture, with the main temple taking the form of a cubic building, containing a Buddha statue inside.
