Gelar Melayu Serumpun

Gelar Melayu Serumpun is an cultural festival held at Lapangan Merdeka Medan, showcasing the richness of Malay arts and traditions. The event features colossal dance performances, cultural parades, traditional music, Malay orchestra, UMKM exhibitions, and live cooking demos of spicy Malay porridge. GEMES also presents unique rituals such as the traditional mass circumcision procession, along with workshops on making tanjak and tengkuluk, plus interactive cultural games. With delegates from Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand, GEMES strengthens Malay heritage while boosting tourism and the creative economy of Medan.
